Tired Skin? Try These Korean Beauty SecretsPosted on 23/04/2020
Most of us have busy lifestyles. Whether it’s hustling in your business, work or scrambling after little ones – or just, well life right? It can make us look and feel tired. Sometimes other lifestyle factors such as lack of exercise, dehydration and late-night Netflix binges can give us these eye bags and a lacklustre look. In this blog, we will share five ways to transform your tired skin from dull and sleepy to bright and energised.
1. Have a routine and keep it consistent
The Korean beauty philosophy focuses on prevention, in addition to treating the root cause of skin concerns. Koreans use skincare products that are formulated with safe, natural ingredients that bring about radiance to the skin. These products nourish your skin with an abundance of nutrients while providing long lasting hydrating and producing long term results.
Koreans see skincare as an investment rather than a chore. Perceiving your skincare routine this way will help you stay consistent as well as make your routine more enjoyable.
The Korean skincare routine is a 10-step process that involves a gentle, layering technique of products. It helps you achieve that dewy glow. While it may seem overwhelming at first, if you’re new to Korean beauty or new to having a skincare routine, we recommend you gradually build up your routine. There is no need to do all 10 steps straight away, and we don’t recommend introducing 10 new products to your skin at the same time either. Learn about your skin’s needs, listen to it, then choose the most suitable products for your skin!

2. Add the zing into ginseng
Korean beauty products centre around the key active ingredients and the benefits they deliver to your skin.
Originating from Korea and China, Ginseng is a great herbal ingredient to add to your skincare regime. It helps to stimulate collagen production and reduces the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. It’s the herb that gives you that fresh look. It also accelerates skin cell renewal which assists in brightening skin complexion while protecting your skin from free radicals.
Check out our PAPA RECIPE Bombee Ginseng Red Honey Oil Mask here containing Red Ginseng Extract, Honey Extract and 3 plant-based oils (Evening Primrose, Rosehip & Camellia) to firm, refresh and balance your skin.
3. Snooze or you’ll lose
Ban the snooze button. Cramming in a few extra ZZZs after your alarm goes off can actually make you feel more drowsy!
Instead, wake up immediately and spoon. Yes, a spoon! Stash two tablespoons in the freezer and when you wake up, press them gently under your eyes to see off puffiness and dark circles.
Also, while you get your snooze, try some of our sleeping masks. The LANEIGE Water Sleeping Mask Lavender combines Sleep-tox™, Moisture Wrap™ and Sleepscent™ technology with a subtle Lavender scent to deliver intense hydration and revitalise your skin overnight.
4. Say hello to the sun
Say hola to your free dose of vitamin D with some (safe) sun exposure. Feeling sunlight on your arms, hands and face for just 10-15 minutes a day can boost your mood and energy levels through the release of endorphins.
As well as perking up your tired skin, it will also wake up your mind as the sun reduces the level of melatonin, that is the sleepy hormone in your body, giving you energy.
While you get the much-needed rays, don’t forget to pop on some sun protection. We love the MISSHA M Perfect Cover BB Cream SPF 42 PA+++ which also covers dark spots, provides excellent coverage and has a bright, dewy finish.
5. Fake a facelift
Just 60 seconds of a DIY face massage can make your skin look more alive. Using a creamy cleanser or moisturiser, make small circles with your fingertips – this will boost your circulation, bring oxygen to your cells and give you an instant glow.
Also, use products with collagen in them. We love THE PLANT BASE Time Collagen Ampoule which is formulated with three types of Mushroom Extract, making up over 76% of the formula, to enhance elasticity and rejuvenate your skin as well as prevent ageing.
